What's Up in SD

First of all, Dad/Curt, we all loved your post. And look forward soooo much to the synchronized swimming video. Steve and I especially can't wait.

So, since we're all so spread apart right now, here's a brief update of what's going on with the San Diego Waltons.

Ten Things That Have/Are Happened/Happening Recently
  1. I am taking 5 classes, and I'm ALMOST a college graduate!
  2. Steve is taking midterms right now, which means studying until his brain fries and then playing Legend of Zelda with me on Gamecube.
  3. We learned how to make a chicken-rice bake thing. Yum. And Steve bought chicken breasts the size of cows to make it with. Seriously, ONE of them fed BOTH of us, with quite a bit left over. Look out for Godzilla chickens.
  4. I finally got my name changed with Social Security & the DMV, and I got my new Walton-ified drivers license in the mail last week!!!
  5. I gave Steve a (really good) haircut. It came out much better than the first try, which was a couple of months ago. Ask him about how well I blended it. (Really well.)
  6. We went on a triple date with 2 couples from our ward: NYC style pizza (Steve approved) and the movie "Breach" (not worth $10 apiece). We rode in a minivan, like we were in highschool again. It was awesome.
  7. I'm starting to look for a new job, because my job is abruptly ending in March because my contract is up. Sad.
  8. A shuttle bus caught on fire at UCSD! But it wasn't Steve's, and no one was hurt. It just looked really cool/scary.
  9. The Format is playing here Friday, so that will probably be our date night. (Jess, we had so much fun with you last time!)

It's Monday!!!

Well, this is a cool thing that you have set up - especially for us "non" bloggers! It's the first thing I've ever written in a blog in my entire time on earth since Al Gore invented the internet!!!

Ok....I'm going to try and upload a cool photo of my Great-Grandfather, Wesley K. Walton and my Grandfather, Dyke Walton. Let's see if it works!!!

Now it's Eric's birthday (seeing how Mom didn't want to share! :-D)

So, if anyone gets a chance, pass these comments along to Eric.

Happy Birthday to Mom!

Well, I figure we all can't sit around the dinner table together and tell all the reasons why we love Mom. But what we CAN do, is each comment to this post and let Mom know if we were sitting around the table tonight, just what each of us might say.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Love, the Fam.

Tahoe

Hey, here are a few pics from Tahoe, it was AMAZING up there, they lived on the top of a mountain, you can't get any farther from civilization, we had to take the cars most of the way up the hill, then go the rest of the way in this little mini-snow tank thing they had, it was sweet, I decided that I'm going to sell all I own and buy a snowmobile, it is all I require for happiness.

The view from up there.

Oh yeah, I kinda got their snowmobile stuck. . . .

Another view from up top our first morning there
We're gonna combine all of our pics and after that I'll get some more fun ones to put up here
Love you all!

The Vetoed Photos of Dad

My first post. Awww. Please notice that I changed my name to fit in with all you cool kids who have neat display names. AND MINE IS AWESOME BECAUSE IT HAS A DOUBLE MEANING. Ask me. I dare you. :-)

Here are the photos Dad disapproved for the card...

We didn't think this one was bad, but it was vetoed.
This one is awesome. Of all 4 of us.

Fam Damily!

Hey, Sven suggested that I drop a line letting you know what is up with me, so here we go:

Well, as you all know, I got a job here on campus in the Harris Fine Arts Center working for the Divsion of Design & Production, basically making posters and flyers, working on a Mac all day using Photoshop and Illustrator . . . not only that, I'm not taking any customer service calls, so life is grand! My boss is really chill, it's felixble hours, and I get free tickets to any music or theater event fo' free! 'Ray!

On another note, I was in the testing center the other day and ran into Turell, a kid that I was an R.A. for back in the day, who's already back from his mission to Chile (yeah, that didn't make me feel old . . .) Anyways, he's going to Tahoe with a huge group of people and invited me to go, so we'll spend all weekend sledding and stuff, and we'll go to the singles ward out there, it should be really fun! I know I had talked to Mom and Dad about another friend who was going to drive to San Fran, but there was no room with that group; I'd much rather see the fam damily, but I can't pass up a trip to Tahoe! We leave today (Thurs) at 3 and then we'll be back sometime Monday!

In our animation class we had to take a quote from a movie or TV (which, of course was difficult for me, I don't really do movie quotes . . .haha . . .) and then animate to it. It's just some simple rough animation, if you guys wanna see it click here.

Well, that's all from me! Love you guys!

Emmy's E-mails

Hey guys, I'm sure you got these from Mom, but either way... here's Emmy the Aussie:

Monday, 2/12

mommathanks for your emails they were delightful! I am glad that the skit went so well...i am so proud of them!! I hope that someone puts in on youtube because i would justlove to see it! Sounds cute! Everything is great so far here! Today i went toorientation and met some nice people. I hung out mostly with this girl maria fromnew york. we got our bus passes and took a tour and went to a shopping center to getsome stuff and then i fugred out the bus system and i was so proud of myself. when icame home i wanted to go running... but i wasnt alone, four of the kids went withme, two on bikes and it was so funny.. the three old benny is soooooo cute i justlove him, and he was on this little bike and he would yell wait up wait up so i hadto run right next to him and on the way back he got tired so i pretty much pushedhim the rest of the way crouched over. we stopped at a park and they are so funnybecause they all want me to push them and they tell me im their best friend and that they love me... im sure it will wear off but it is so hilariously cute. they like live in my room and the three year old is obsessed with my electricaltoothbrush. we had family night and they played sardines for the game which mademe laugh because they call it hide and go seek with a twist. cute huh? I boughtsome sunscreen which will be good because i plan on going to the beach tomorrow. ikeep learning all these new terms.... like instead of renting something it is forhire... university is called uni, sunglasses are called sunnies, everything isshortened.. if you know someone named ben or jon you call them beno or jono andthey really do say mate a lot, and oy. very very cute and everyone is superfriendly. i would honesly love to live here permanently. it actually reminds alittle bit of san diego but with more trees and cleaner air and less trash and allthat kind of stuff. the commercials are a lot different and we discussed therating system here.. they have g and pg and m and m15 and r i think and it is funny because a lotof our r rated movies are only rated m here which i find very interesting.. likeall those war movies braveheart saving private ryan troy gladiator.. those were allm here, which means anyone can see them and you generally let your kids see them ifthey are around twelve. oh and hell and damn are not a swear word here... everyonesays it.. they warned me about that as soon as they picked me up so i wouldnt befreaked out by the kids saying it... well anyways i think im off to bed, tell thefamily i say hi and that i love them.. i am so tired so i am not writing anyoneelse i am just writing back to whoever wrote me which is just you and rick. showdad and whoever else the email. i love you heaps!love em
